Fernando Bordignon
Co-Founder and CEO LTrace

Co-founder of LTrace Geophysical Solutions, a digital rocks solution company. LTrace expertise includes thin section, micro tomography, whole core and image log processing for which we developed GeoSlicer – a integrated platform for digital rocks. We also work with deep learning for 4D history matching and seismic inversion software for OpendTect and SLB Petrel. PhD in Computer Science applied to Geostatistics from Federal University of Santa Catarina – Brazil.

            

Leandro Passos de Figueiredo
Co-Founder and Chief of Research

He has expertise geophysics, Bayesian inference, stochastic methods, history matching, geostatistics and digital rock physics. He graduated in physics with academic honors for achieving the highest grade in his class. Then received his PhD in Physics in 2017 and was named as an outstanding alumnus for the years 2015-2019. After the PhD, he continued his work as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Wyoming. In 2018 he co-founded LTrace, where he has worked ever since. His current work focuses on geostatistical inversion, history matching using ESMDA, and AI applied to digital rock physics. In 2023, he received the Arie Van Weelden Award for innovative solutions in the field of geostatistics and subsurface modeling. He has more than 50 publications in international conferences and journals, with over 730 citations in total.

                 

Rodrigo Exterkoetter
Co-Founder

Data Scientist and Co-founder of LTrace, based in Florianópolis, Brazil, with a PhD in Computer Science specializing in deep learning, generative models, and autoencoders for advanced image and volume processing. Research and professional expertise center on leveraging cutting-edge machine learning techniques to address complex challenges in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on data assimilation for reservoir characterization, simulation, and carbon capture applications. A technical innovator and leader, he bridges academic rigor with industry impact, driving solutions for energy optimization and sustainability.
