šŸ“ŠĀ Multiscale Pore Network Model in Geoslicer

šŸ“¢Ā We’re excited to share our multiscale pore network module, available inĀ Geoslicer, our open-source digital rocks platform atĀ LTrace.
These new developments enableĀ pore-scale one- and two-phase flow simulationsĀ on porous media images containing bothĀ resolved and unresolved porosity.

Our approach builds on the concepts introduced byĀ Bultreys (2015)Ā andĀ Xu (2021), which describe macro- and microporous domains as separate network elements. We extend this by using aĀ bundle of capillaries modelĀ to represent subscale porosity, calibrated using experimental data or scenario-testing assumptions for the subresolution pore size distribution.

🧠 Key features of the new module include:
āœ…Simulation ofĀ absolute permeability,Ā relative permeability,Ā drainage/imbibition cycles, andĀ Buckley-Leverett-based production prediction
āœ…Ability to handle networks with millions of pores in absolute permeability simulations, and over a hundred thousand in relative permeability simulations, depending on available hardware
